Problem Understanding

We were asked to analyse a plastic material Polyarilamide IXEF® which composed a finished product. The finished product showed damages after moulding process therefore the owner of the production line asked us to investigate the causes of the damages.

Providing you with the Solution

Through the DSC analyses and in particular the graphic curve of the first heating of thermal history of the analysed material, we noticed that there were endothermic signs of incomplete crystallization process.

The DSC curve shows the peak of over 224°C and two more endothermic peaks related to the post crystallization process. This means that the material has not completed correct crystallization.

With these elements we have been able to state that the material has been gone in a condition of fragility since the end of moulding process because the mold was so cold that the material did not complete the process of crystallization and underwent a condition of fragility.
