Problem Understanding

The customer reports the formation of white solid residue on NBR rubber gasket after 4 months of use in the field.

The client wants to determine the cause/nature of such training:

  • Residue from the outside?
  • Degraded material?

ANALYSIS BY FT-IR and SEM-EDS AFTER APPROPRIATE SAMPLING

 

 


CONTAMINATION -->  

 

The residues determined consist of elements such as

 

  • Sodium (Na), chlorine (Cl) and potassium (K), from the working environment
  • Zinc stearate that comes from the rubber compound is likely to migrate the plasticizer from the compound to the surface.
