When designing and developing polymer materials, for example modifying the base properties of polymers with additives (compounding), fine-tuning the process parameters is critical.

Is is therefore fundamentally important to monitor these parameters so as to be able to evaluate the main issues with the process before it is scaled up to an industrial level.
To meet these requirements, the Plastanalisi laboratory has decided to widen its range of instrumentation by introducing a co-rotating twin screw extruder for polymer compounding on a small to medium scale (quantities from 5 to 100 kg).

Being able to work with reduced quantities will allow you to use even more costly materials, to reduce working times significantly, and to increase the number of tests which can be performed.

Thanks to the presence of a press for moulding ISO test pieces and various instruments for mechanical, rheological, chemical and physical analyses, we can perform tests to check and characterise the extruded material.

The addition of this new device to our wide range of existing instruments gives you the possibility to reproduce compounding processes on a small scale, with good approximation, to obtain new polymer formulations and assess their workability.
